Milacron South Africa Plastic Injection Moulding Machines
Ferromatik Milacron has been established in South Africa
since 1969. In those days, the Ludwig Maurer brand of plastic Injection
Moulding machine was already the most sought after Injection molder in
the industry. Today some examples are still in operation on a daily basis!
Such is the basic build quality from the seventies.
In
1973, the name changed to Kloeckner Maurer, as part of the Kloeckner Werke
group. This ushered in the Kloeckner era, and for many people, established
the Kloeckner brand forever. Kloeckner Ferromatik had been born, and would
survive as a brand for many years, building a reputation of absolute performance
and reliability.
In 1981, Kloeckner Ferromatik expands and acquires the Desma group, the
company continues to trade as Kloeckner Ferromatik Desma. This is followed
in 1982 by Efforts to enter the market for large injection-molding machines
are successful. Thanks to the acquisition of GKN-Windsor, Ferromatik is
now able to produce injection-molding machines with a clamping force of
up to 40,000 kN. Roughly equivalent to Four Thousand tons, with the first
Three thousand ton machine being sold into South Africa. In 1992, Kloeckner
Ferromatik Desma introduces the first all electric high speed injection
moulder at k'92. 16 years later, the Elektra is acknowledged by Ferromatik's
competitors as being the best all electric machine available globally.

In 1993, the company is acquired by the Milacron Group out of Cincinnati
Ohio.
This brings together, existing Cincinnati technology and Ferromatik experience
in the smaller machine sizes up to 650 tons clamp force.
1996 The fully electric ELECTRA disco machine, used in the production
of optical media, is developed and introduced to the market soon thereafter.
Multi colour multi component machines continue to grow.
1998 The Maxima, 2 platen design with clamp forces up to 3000 tons is
built in Malterdingen for export to the world. _ please link the history

In South Africa, Kloeckner Ferromatik continues to be the machine of choice
for the packaging industry, some 800 models are currently in the field.
Kloeckner Ferromatik is still today the most sought after used machine
in the industry, fetching in some cases up to three time s the price of
their nearest competitior.
The modern Ferromatik machine is fast, durable and still the weapon of
choice for serious battle in the market!
Backed up by technicians in the major centers: Johannesburg, Durban and
Cape Town, the company continues to grow with its customers and offers
not only machinery, but also robotics and material handling equipment.
